South Central Railway (SCR) has announced a new tender for ground infrastructure works to implement the Kavach safety system across its high-density network. The project, which includes the deployment of Kavach and the installation of 4G LTE-R technology, is projected to enhance railway safety and communication across the region.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹281.33 crore, and the completion timeline for the work is set at 18 months. The Kavach system is a critical safety measure designed to prevent train collisions and improve overall operational efficiency. The integration of 4G LTE-R will further modernize communication systems, ensuring reliable and secure data transmission.
Bids for the project must be submitted by 18 September 2024. The successful bidder will be responsible for the comprehensive ground infrastructure work required to deploy these advanced technologies within SCR's extensive and busy rail network.
This initiative aligns with the broader goal of enhancing safety and operational standards within India's railway system, addressing the needs of high-traffic routes and contributing to the modernization of railway infrastructure.
