SCR Locks In $908 Cr Warangal-Mahbubabad Depot

The South Central Railway (SCR) has approved ₹908.15 crore for the development of a mega coach maintenance depot on the Warangal–Mahbubabad route.

Spanning 300 acres of government land near Mahbubabad, the facility will handle both Periodic Overhaul (POH) and Routine Overhaul (ROH) of railway coaches, significantly enhancing maintenance capacity in the region. Strategically located along an existing railway line, the depot will complement nearby infrastructure such as the Coach Factory at Kazipet.

The project is expected to create substantial direct employment and contribute to regional economic development. Key political leaders, including Mahbubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik, MLA Murali Naik, and representatives from the National ST Commission, were instrumental in securing the project by advocating for the area’s logistical strengths and development potential.
