Sembcorp Industries has secured a 300 MW solar project from NHPC, a government enterprise in India. The project will be executed by Green Infra Wind Energy (GIWEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary, through a build-own-operate (BOT) arrangement, forming part of NHPC's three GW bid earlier this year.
Funding for the project will come from a combination of internal resources and debt financing, with the goal of achieving commercial operation by 2026. NHPC, in a letter of award (LoA), has committed to a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the output of the 300 MW solar project.
In a recent development, GIWEL has entered into an agreement with Leap Green Energy, an Indian power producer, to acquire two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) holding 228 MW of operational wind assets located in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
Sembcorp, dedicated to renewable energy assets, clean energy infrastructure, and low-carbon technologies, is committed to providing sustainable solutions. Currently, GIWEL manages 801.2 MW of wind-based power projects across seven locations in four states.
