SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), has commenced commercial operations of an additional 78.23 MW at its Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.
This marks a key milestone in the development of the 1,000 MW solar power project, being implemented under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, initiated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The project’s first phase, comprising 241.77 MW, began commercial operations on April 2, 2025. With the latest addition, SGEL continues to make steady progress toward full commissioning, targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2025. Once fully operational, the project will supply clean solar power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, enhancing regional energy security and supporting India’s renewable energy goals.
Implemented under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, the project is aligned with the Make in India initiative, promoting domestic solar manufacturing and reinforcing India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.
