REC, a prominent player in the power sector financing, is poised to take on the role of the nodal agency for the National Rooftop Solar scheme, aligning with the government's strategic shift towards decentralized solar initiatives to achieve ambitious green energy targets.
In this new capacity, REC will serve as the authoritative body overseeing the effective implementation of the National Rooftop Solar scheme, aiming to enhance its nationwide coverage and address operational inefficiencies.
Having previously fulfilled the nodal agency role in various nationwide initiatives of the Ministry of Power, REC brings a wealth of experience. Notable among its past responsibilities were overseeing rural electrification initiatives like the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and the Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) scheme. REC has also played a crucial role as the nodal agency for specific states in the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
It's worth noting that REC's expertise extends beyond financing, as its subsidiary, REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), contributes valuable consultancy services in the power sector, further strengthening its capabilities in driving impactful initiatives.
