Shree Chhatrapati Shahu S.S.K.Ltd Gears Up for Distillery Expansion in Maharashtra

Shree Chhatrapati Shahu Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Limited (SCSSSKL) stands as a cooperative sugar factory nestled in Kagal, Taluka Kagal, within the district of Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Established in 1980, this institution has steadily grown and presently boasts a capacity of 4950 TCD (tonnes of cane crushed per day) in sugar production.

With an eye on expansion, SCSSSKL has set its sights on augmenting its distillery unit, aiming to increase its capacity from 45 KLPD (kilo-liters per day) to 60 KLPD. The estimated cost for this expansion project amounts to a 30 crores, with an anticipated completion date of March, 2024.

The proposed expansion encompasses multifaceted elements, including the construction of a new distillery unit capable of handling 15 KLPD, the installation of cutting-edge equipment and machinery, and an enlargement of the existing infrastructure. This initiative is primarily geared toward boosting the production of rectified spirit (RS) from the current 1350 KL to 1800 KL annually. RS, a valuable by-product of the sugar industry, finds application in various sectors such as alcoholic beverages, pharmaceuticals, and industrial solvents.

As on December 2024, The project is in its final stages of completion. Approximately 75% of the project's work has been finished. By March 2024, all of the project work will have been finished.
