SMC Power to Pump Rs 318 Cr into Odisha Steel Expansion

SMC Power Generation Ltd. is set to expand its steel plant at Kukurjhanga, Jharsuguda, Odisha, with a significant investment of ₹318 crores. This project focuses on enhancing its production capabilities, including an increase in sponge iron output and the addition of a captive power plant.

The expansion aims to boost the plant's sponge iron production to 200,000 tons per annum (TPA), ensuring a steady supply for various industrial applications. This increase in production capacity will help meet the growing demand for high-quality sponge iron in the region and beyond.

In addition to the sponge iron production, SMC Power Generation Ltd. will establish an 8 MW captive power plant. This facility will enhance the plant's energy self-sufficiency, reducing reliance on external power sources and ensuring uninterrupted operations.

The project is expected to bring substantial economic benefits to the Jharsuguda area, creating new job opportunities and supporting local businesses. The investment reflects SMC Power's commitment to sustainable growth and regional development.
