SMC Power Generation Ltd. is set to expand its steel plant at Kukurjhanga, Jharsuguda, Odisha, with a significant investment of ₹318 crores. This project focuses on enhancing its production capabilities, including an increase in sponge iron output and the addition of a captive power plant.
The expansion aims to boost the plant's sponge iron production to 200,000 tons per annum (TPA), ensuring a steady supply for various industrial applications. This increase in production capacity will help meet the growing demand for high-quality sponge iron in the region and beyond.
In addition to the sponge iron production, SMC Power Generation Ltd. will establish an 8 MW captive power plant. This facility will enhance the plant's energy self-sufficiency, reducing reliance on external power sources and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
