SSWL Expansion: 7.2M Alloy Wheels Coming to Gujarat

Steel Strips Wheels Ltd (SSWL) has announced plans for a major expansion in Gujarat, following board approval for a land lease agreement and capacity enhancement initiatives.

The Board has approved a lease arrangement with its wholly owned subsidiary, AMW Autocomponent Ltd (AACL), for 288,793 square metres of land located in Bhuj, Kachchh, Gujarat. The lease period is for 11 months, commencing on December 26, 2025. As part of the expansion programme, SSWL will set up two new manufacturing facilities—one dedicated to alloy wheels with an estimated annual capacity of 7.2 million units, and another for aluminium steering knuckles with a projected capacity of 0.6 million units per year.

The alloy wheel plant will involve an investment of ₹300 crore, while the steering knuckle facility will require ₹120 crore. Both units are targeted to become operational by the fourth quarter of FY 2026–27, subject to receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals.
