It is the intention of Mrinal Sugars Limited to construct a new sugar unit in Pudakalkatti, which is located in Dharwad, Karnataka. With a crushing capacity of 5,000 tonnes of cane per day (TCD), the project will include a co-generation power plant with a capacity of 21 megawatts (MW) and an ethanol unit with a capacity of 100 kiloliters per day (KLPD).
There would be a total expenditure of 368 crores for the project, which would require 43.12 acres of land. The property for the project has already been purchased by Mrinal Sugars Limited, and the company is currently awaiting approval at the environmental and financial levels. When it is finished, the new sugar unit project is expected to benefit the local economy and provide employment opportunities for more than 250 people. In addition to this, it will assist in enhancing Karnataka's capacity for sugar production and reducing the state's reliance on sugar imports. Because the ethanol unit will be responsible for the production of biofuel and the co-generation power plant will be responsible for the generation of renewable energy, the project will also be beneficial to the environment. Due to the fact that this project will be of great benefit to the economy of Karnataka as well as the sugar industry in India, I am looking forward to seeing it become a reality.
