Tamil Nadu's Crown Jewel: Adidas Chooses Chennai for Global Business Expansion

Adidas is establishing its inaugural Global Capacity Centre (GCC) in Asia, choosing Chennai as the location for this strategic move. This marks the first time the athletic footwear and apparel giant is expanding its GCC outside of China. The German corporation will position Chennai as its Global Business Services (GBS) hub, concentrating on essential processes including source-to-pay (S2P), financial planning & analysis (FP&A), invoice-to-cash (I2C), and record-to-report (R2R).

This development aligns seamlessly with Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa's vision for Chennai to emerge as the 'premier choice' for GCCs and research and development centers in India. The newly designated global hub in Chennai is purposefully designed to integrate seamlessly with Adidas' existing hubs in Porto (Portugal), Dalian (China), Bogota (Colombia), and North America, enhancing the company's ability to manage its global operations efficiently.

Anticipating substantial growth, Adidas has plans to augment its Chennai center by adding 'high-quality resources' over the next three to five years. This strategic decision underscores the company's commitment to leveraging Chennai's potential as a key player in the global business landscape.

In joining the ranks of global companies establishing their first centers in the state, Adidas stands alongside prominent names such as UPS, Hitachi Energy, ChampionX, Udemy, and others. This move reinforces Chennai's attractiveness as a hub for multinational corporations seeking to establish a strong presence in India.
