The Tamil Nadu Budget for 2025-26, presented by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu on 14 March 2025, focuses on major investments in infrastructure, women’s welfare, and education.
As part of the ‘Thozhi’ Working Women’s Hostel Project, 10 new hostels with modern amenities, including one in Coimbatore, will be established at a cost of Rs 77 crore, expanding on the 13 existing hostels in Chennai and surrounding areas.
Infrastructure development remains a priority, with plans for a new airport in Rameswaram to accommodate rising tourism. Additionally, Chennai’s Metro Rail network will undergo significant expansion, with an investment of Rs 27,858 crore.
The Budget outlines a strategic vision for the state’s growth while reinforcing its commitment to key sectors.
