Tata Power Targets 2.5-2.7 GW Expansion in FY26, Eyes UP Discoms

Tata Power plans to add 2.5–2.7 GW of new capacity in FY26, following a 2.3 GW addition in FY25. CEO Praveer Sinha stated that while the company had originally earmarked ₹20,000 crore in capital expenditure for FY25, it achieved over ₹16,000 crore, mainly due to delays in transmission and renewable energy projects.

The company is in the process of finalizing long-term wind turbine supply contracts (1–1.5 GW) within the next few weeks.

Tata Power is also actively pursuing opportunities in Uttar Pradesh’s power distribution sector, with interest in the privatisation of PVVNL and DVVNL, which together serve 42 out of 75 districts in the state.

On the export front, the company’s current priority is the domestic market, particularly under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which mandates the use of GTR modules. Export possibilities may be explored subsequently.
