The Gondegaon Open Cast Mine (OCM), operated by Western Coalfields Ltd. (WCL) in Maharashtra, is on course to achieve its production target of 3.5 million tonnes for the current financial year.
Coal India Chairman P. Prasad, along with Director (Business Development) Debasish Nanda, recently inspected the site. Their visit included a comprehensive review of operations and a felicitation ceremony recognizing outstanding employees, reflecting Coal India’s continued emphasis on operational excellence and workforce motivation.
Earlier, the Chairman participated in the ‘Progressive Resource Innovation for Sustainable Mining’ (PRISM) 2025 seminar, organized by the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) in Nagpur. In his address, he emphasized the need for innovation, research, and development to drive sustainable and diversified growth in the mining sector, reaffirming its vital role in India's economic progress.
