Techno Digital's $1 Billion Bet on India's Data Center Boom

Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure arm of Techno Electric & Engineering Company, plans to invest USD 1 billion over the next five years to build a nationwide network of hyperscale and edge data centres with a combined capacity of 250 MW.

The initiative kicks off with the launch of a 36 MW AI-ready data centre at Siruseri SIPCOT IT Park in Chennai. Spanning 200,000 sq. ft., the facility will support approximately 2,400 high-density racks, offering flexible power densities ranging from 10 kW to 50 kW per rack.

Future developments include an 18 MW facility in Noida, scheduled for a 2026 launch, and a 13 MW centre in Kolkata, expected by 2027. Additionally, Techno Digital has partnered with RailTel to build 102 edge data centres across Tier-II and Tier-III cities in India.

Commenting on the initiative, CEO Ankit Saraiya said:
"Our AI-ready hyperscale data centre in Chennai marks a significant milestone in advancing India’s self-reliance in digital infrastructure. While India leads in data consumption, our share of global data centre capacity is still below 3%—a gap that presents one of the most compelling opportunities of our time."
