UBL to Invest ₹90 Crore in Telangana's Canned Beer Market

United Breweries Ltd (UBL), the maker of Kingfisher and Heineken®, has announced a ₹90 crore investment to establish a state-of-the-art canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana.

This marks UBL’s foray into Telangana’s fast-growing canned beer segment, driven by rising demand for premium, portable formats. The new facility—set to be operational within a year—will add 0.4 million hectolitres (mhl) to the existing 0.5 mhl capacity, increasing the brewery’s annual output to 0.9 mhl.

The canning line will cater to premium offerings such as Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra, and Heineken®, aligning with shifting consumer preferences for convenience, freshness, and portability—especially among younger demographics.

“Telangana is one of India’s largest beer markets, and the demand for canned beer continues to grow,” said Vivek Gupta, Managing Director & CEO of UBL. “This investment positions us to capture greater market share in this high-potential segment.”

Funded through internal accruals, the project has received all necessary regulatory approvals, including a Building Permit Order issued on August 25, 2025.
