Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) has announced the successful commissioning of a key interstate transmission project in Gujarat by its subsidiary, POWERGRID Khavda II-B Transmission.
The project, titled “Transmission Scheme for Evacuation of 4.5 GW Renewable Energy Injection at Khavda Pooling Station under Phase-II, Part-B,” was awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB). The transmission system was fully commissioned on 13 December 2025, with the declaration of commercial operation (DOCO) issued on 18 December 2025.
This project plays a vital role in strengthening India’s power transmission network by enabling large-scale evacuation of renewable energy from the Khavda region, one of the country’s largest renewable energy hubs.
POWERGRID stated that the successful execution of the project underscores its commitment to enhancing interstate transmission infrastructure and supporting India’s clean energy transition through reliable and efficient power evacuation systems.
