Rajasthan’s Irrigation Minister, Suresh Rawat, has announced that the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) is on schedule for completion by December 2027.
The minister said intensive work is underway near Keshoraipatan on the Chambal River, with engineers working round the clock to ensure timely progress. He noted that tenders worth ₹14,000 crore have already been issued for the project’s second phase, which is expected to provide irrigation benefits to 17 districts across eastern Rajasthan. Minister Rawat also credited the current state government for initiating work at the ground level.
In addition, he said preparations are underway for a detailed project report (DPR) to address irrigation and drinking water requirements in the Mewar region. Another DPR is being planned for supplying Yamuna River water to the districts of Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu.
