JSW Steel has commenced development work on its greenfield integrated steel plant at Paradeep in Odisha, marking one of the company’s largest industrial expansion projects in India.
The project will be implemented in phases with a planned production capacity of 13.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and an estimated investment of approximately Rs 65,000 crore. Spread across nearly 2,950 acres along Odisha’s coastline, the integrated steel complex is strategically positioned to leverage strong port connectivity, established logistics infrastructure, and proximity to key raw material sources.
According to the company, the coastal location is expected to enhance operational efficiencies and improve access to both domestic and international markets. The project launch ceremony was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi along with senior JSW Group leadership led by Sajjan Jindal.
The development also aligns with the Government of India’s Mission Purvodaya initiative, which focuses on accelerating industrial and infrastructure growth across eastern India. Once operational, the Paradeep facility is expected to reinforce Odisha’s position as a major steel manufacturing hub while supporting India’s long-term infrastructure and industrial expansion plans.
