The Pitch is Set: Gorakhpur's ₹236 Crore Cricket Dream Begins

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the construction of the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium, marking a significant milestone in the state's efforts to enhance its sports infrastructure. This ambitious project, spearheaded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will be the fourth international cricket venue in the state, following stadiums in Kanpur, Lucknow, and the soon-to-be-completed Varanasi facility.

Situated on a 50-acre site in Tal Nadaur, Gorakhpur, the stadium is slated for completion in 18 months with a projected investment of ₹236.40 crore. According to a detailed plan by the state planning department, the main stadium complex will cover 45 acres, while the remaining 5 acres will be dedicated to auxiliary services. The two-storey structure is designed to accommodate around 30,000 spectators and will be built under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model.

Key features include designated entry gates, security checkpoints, East and West stands, and North and South pavilions. The facility will also offer modern amenities, such as a parking area with a capacity for 1,500 vehicles.

With construction now underway, the Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium is set to emerge as a major sporting landmark in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
