Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has announced a capital expenditure plan of ₹3,06,600 crore by 2032, focusing heavily on strengthening transmission infrastructure, integrating renewable energy, and advancing sustainability initiatives.
Out of the total outlay, ₹2,99,100 crore is allocated to its core transmission business, while ₹7,500 crore will support other segments. Currently, the PSU is handling projects worth ₹1,54,680 crore, which include ₹1,05,094 crore under tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB), ₹37,221 crore for real-time market (RTM) operations, and ₹12,365 crore across miscellaneous and other categories.
PGCIL has set annual capital expenditure targets of ₹28,000 crore in FY26, ₹35,000 crore in FY27, and ₹45,000 crore in FY28. On the sustainability front, the company aims to source 50% of its electricity from renewables by 2025, become net water positive by 2030, and achieve zero waste to landfill. It has already reduced Scope 1 emissions by 40.61% and Scope 2 emissions by 5.23%, reflecting its commitment to environmental stewardship.
