ABB India has announced an investment of over ₹140 crore to expand and modernise its low voltage (LV) motors manufacturing facility, further strengthening its role as a global innovation hub for energy-efficient industrial solutions.
The announcement comes alongside the launch of India’s first locally manufactured IE5 ultra-premium efficiency motor range, marking a major milestone in sustainable industrial technology. Based on proven induction technology and free from rare-earth metals, the new IE5 motors deliver up to 40% lower energy losses compared to standard IE3 motors, offering faster ROI, lower total cost of ownership, and longer operational life.
Specifically designed for Indian operating conditions, the motors are compatible with both Direct-on-Line (DOL) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) operations, making them ideal for sectors such as metals, cement, textiles, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, and paper.
Stefan Floeck, President of ABB’s IEC Low Voltage Motors division, highlighted the strategic importance of the investment, reinforcing ABB’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and manufacturing excellence in India.
