Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to review the progress of ongoing national highway projects and discuss new proposals in the state.
The meeting, held at Bharat Mandapam, focused on strengthening road infrastructure to enhance connectivity, tourism, and economic growth. Chief Minister Dhami sought approvals for several key projects, including the Rishikesh Bypass, Almora–Danya–Panar Ghat Road, Jeolikot–Khairna–Gairsain–Karnaprayag Road, and the Almora–Bageshwar–Kanda–Udiari Band Road. The proposed 12.67-km four-lane Rishikesh Bypass, estimated at ₹1,161 crore, will feature elevated sections, bridges, and railway overbridges to ensure smooth traffic movement. Other proposed projects aim to widen and upgrade crucial hill roads across Uttarakhand.
Highlighting the state’s progress in road development, CM Dhami said, “Uttarakhand is rapidly progressing on the path of development with a smooth, safe, modern, and forward-looking road network.” He added that improved highway infrastructure is playing a vital role in boosting pilgrimage, tourism, disaster management capabilities, and border connectivity.
