The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is set to develop a 110 MW solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh to supply clean energy to the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
The project has been awarded to NLC India and is scheduled for completion within 24 months. Once operational, the solar plant is expected to meet nearly 60 percent of the corridor’s electricity requirements and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.77 lakh tonnes annually. The initiative is also projected to lower NCRTC’s electricity costs by around 25 percent, with power expenses accounting for nearly 30–35 percent of the corridor’s overall operational costs.
Developed in collaboration with NLC India, the project aligns with India’s National Solar Mission and supports the goal of promoting sustainable urban mobility. NCRTC noted that the initiative could serve as a benchmark for other regional and urban transport systems across the country.
