Trident and Thakur Bid for ₹284 Crore Agri Facility at JN Port

Trident Agro Farms Pvt. Ltd. and Thakur Infraprojects Pvt. Ltd. have submitted bids for a ₹284.19 crore project at Jawaharlal Nehru Port. The project involves establishing an advanced agricultural commodity processing and storage facility, designed to boost both domestic and international exports, under a public-private partnership (PPP).

The 27-acre facility on Funde-Nhava Sheva Road will enhance the shelf life and quality of agricultural products, with services like processing, sorting, packing, and laboratory testing. It aims to handle up to 1.2 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo annually, serving commodities from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and beyond.

Key features include cold storage, pre-cooling, frozen storage, and dry warehouses. The facility is set to begin operations in 2026, following a 1.5-year construction phase, with no royalty payments required for the first three years.

This project aligns with India's goal of increasing agricultural exports by improving infrastructure and processing capabilities, supporting farmers and reducing wastage. The facility could cut operational losses by up to 70%, saving ₹204 crore in its first year alone.

Overall, the facility is poised to play a crucial role in India's ambition to raise agricultural exports to $100 billion by 2035, addressing key infrastructure gaps and enhancing export competitiveness.
