To accelerate industrial growth and urban expansion, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has been tasked with developing four major industrial zones and the ambitious Greater Kanpur township, with a combined investment of ₹2,240 crore.
A four-member committee led by KDA Secretary Abhay Pandey has been constituted to identify suitable land and submit a detailed report within 15 days to guide land acquisition and blueprint preparation.
The planned industrial zones include:
Medicine City: ₹360 crore investment over 100 acres in Bhimsen, near the Defence Corridor, featuring hospitals, medical units, and a relocated wholesale market.
Knowledge Park: ₹880 crore project on 359 acres in Naramau, near IIT Kanpur, envisioned as an educational and research hub.
Mega MSME Park: ₹294 crore development on 100 acres in Bhimsen to host industry-specific MSME clusters.
EV Park: ₹700 crore project spread over 500 acres, focused on electric vehicle manufacturing.
In addition, the Greater Kanpur township, modeled on Greater Noida, will be developed between Mandhna and the Bhaunti bypass to accommodate future urban growth.
The KDA engineering department will prepare detailed project outlines and cost estimates. Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh will head the Knowledge Park project, while Ajay Kumar will oversee the remaining schemes.
