Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath invited Japanese enterprises to establish their "second industrial home" in the state during the inauguration of two Japan-backed projects valued at Rs 3,191 crore in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority zone.
This announcement took place at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, which welcomed over 200 Japanese investors and business executives led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture. These developments stem from ongoing outreach efforts by the Uttar Pradesh administration, highlighted by the Chief Minister's official visit to Japan in February to encourage Japanese corporate investment. Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw also emphasized commercial prospects across sectors such as agriculture, electronics, semiconductors, and emerging technologies. Japanese representatives pointed to green hydrogen, tourism, and governance as key areas for prospective cooperation.
The summit runs through August 23, with the visiting Japanese delegation planning stops in Agra, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Sarnath to identify further business and investment opportunities throughout Uttar Pradesh.
