UPSIDA's Eco-Industrial Push: A Greener Future for UP

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) is advancing a green industrial model to promote sustainable growth across key industrial zones.

Aligned with its vision for an “Environmentally Conscious and Industrially Capable Uttar Pradesh,” UPSIDA is actively deploying modern water management systems and renewable energy solutions. CEO Mayur Maheshwari announced the implementation of several wastewater treatment projects to enhance environmental standards in industrial areas.

Among these, the Surajpur Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Gautam Budh Nagar is being upgraded with Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, increasing its capacity to six MLD at a cost of ₹899 lakh, with completion expected by June 2026. The EPIP Kasna WWTP is also being upgraded (3.6 MLD) at a cost of ₹678.59 lakh. In Ghaziabad, the Loni Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), based on Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology, is fully operational with a five MLD capacity. Additionally, a major expansion is planned for the Loni CETP—from six MLD to 16 MLD—with a ₹42 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR) already prepared.

To promote water reuse, UPSIDA is developing infrastructure to repurpose treated water for cooling, gardening, flushing, and road cleaning. Rooftop solar panels are also being installed at treatment facilities to cut energy costs and reduce emissions.

These initiatives support Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s broader goals of “Clean Water, Clean Industry” and “Energy Self-Reliance,” setting a benchmark for sustainable industrial development in the state.
