Uttarakhand Gets Extra ₹100 Cr. for Mining Reforms.

The Central government has approved an additional Rs 100 crore incentive for Uttarakhand under the Special Assistance Scheme for 2025–26, recognising the state’s strong performance in mining sector reforms.

Uttarakhand met six out of seven key evaluation criteria, including improvements in regulatory efficiency, transparency, and monitoring mechanisms—earning the highest score among all assessed states. This follows an earlier Rs 100 crore incentive awarded in October 2025 for its top ranking in the Sustainable Mining Reforms Index (SMRI), bringing the total incentive to Rs 200 crore.

The funds will support technology-driven monitoring, curb illegal mining, and modernise operations through digitisation and e-auctions. Officials noted that the reforms aim to balance mining activities with environmental protection, especially in Uttarakhand’s ecologically sensitive zones. The allocation will further strengthen revenue management, regulatory oversight, and accountability in the sector.
