Velgaon Power Transmission: A New Chapter in Maharashtra's Grid

Velgaon Power Transmission has been established as a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), which is itself a subsidiary of REC. The company is dedicated to the development of a 400/200 kV Velgaon Substation (GIS). Its authorized capital is set at Rs 5 lakh.

On 12th February 2025, the Government of Maharashtra issued an order allocating an intra-state transmission project and appointed RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) to facilitate the selection of a bidder for the substation’s construction. As a result, Velgaon Power Transmission was incorporated on 29th March 2025, with the Certificate of Incorporation being received on 30th March 2025.

Once a successful bidder is selected under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, the company, along with its assets and liabilities, will be transferred to the winning bidder.
