Vizhinjam-Trivandrum: The Seamless Sea-Air Superhub is Rising

Vizhinjam Port, operated by Adani Ports, is poised to evolve into a sea–air transshipment hub by integrating its operations with Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

An integrated check post (ICP) for customs, immigration, and documentation will streamline crew changes and cargo movement. The airport’s close proximity—just 16 km from the port—offers a strategic advantage unmatched by other major ports. “With the ICP, documentation becomes simpler, making it easier for the port to move cargo via flights,” an official said. The initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency, boost revenue, and improve cargo handling capabilities.

To support future growth, the airport is also planning a new cargo complex and an additional passenger terminal.
