YIL Expands Axle Capacity, Eyes ₹4,000 Cr Milestone

Yantra India Limited (YIL), a defence public sector undertaking headquartered in Nagpur, is set to increase its railway axle production capacity from 30,000 to 70,000 units annually over the next two to three years, in response to rising demand driven by India’s expanding rail infrastructure, including projects like the Vande Bharat trains.

The axles are manufactured at YIL’s Metals and Steel Factory (MSF) in Ishapore, West Bengal, which also produces tank barrels. The upcoming capacity expansion will be supported by the installation of advanced machinery, enabling dual-use production for both railway axles and next-generation tank and artillery gun barrels.

Celebrating its fourth year as an independent PSU, YIL is aiming for a turnover of ₹4,000 crore, backed by a robust order book, including contracts secured through global tenders.
