Praj & Gevo Power India’s Green Transition with Bio-IBA Tech

Praj Industries has partnered with American energy innovator Gevo to exclusively deploy and commercialize Bio-Isobutanol (Bio-IBA) technology across India. By leveraging abundant sugar- and starch-based feedstocks, the collaboration aims to produce low-carbon alternatives primarily targeted at diesel blending in heavy sectors like transportation, mining, and agriculture.

As part of this strategic alliance, Praj is currently constructing India’s first commercial Bio-IBA demonstration facility for an oil marketing company to validate local supply chains. Beyond conventional diesel blending, Bio-IBA acts as a versatile platform chemical capable of scaling the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and renewable chemicals, reinforcing India's transition toward a robust bioeconomy.
