Bengaluru's Longest Skywalk Takes Shape at Hudson Circle

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is fast-tracking the construction of a long-awaited skywalk at Hudson Circle—one of Bengaluru’s busiest traffic junctions.

This project will provide safe and convenient pedestrian access between Cubbon Park and the BBMP head office, where five major roads intersect and traffic peaks at approximately 35,000 passenger car units (PCUs) per hour. Spanning 150 meters, the skywalk will be the longest in the city upon completion.

After being revived and approved by BBMP's engineer-in-chief in 2023, the project gained new momentum. The skywalk will begin at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road, pass over Kasturba Road, link to the Vokkaligara Sangha Bhavan, and conclude at the BBMP headquarters near Hudson Circle, also known as Corporation Circle.

Designed as a modular and temporary structure, the skywalk is being built under a public-private partnership (PPP) model and is slated for completion within 12 months.

Initially approved in December 2017, the project faced delays due to design and logistical challenges, traffic management concerns, lack of a detailed pedestrian study, and disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
