Polavaram Project Accelerates Critical Dam Construction

Polavaram Project Authority CEO Sanjeev Vohra has stepped up the review of construction at the Polavaram irrigation project, directing engineers to accelerate critical dam works and maximise the remaining dry-weather window.

During the inspection, Vohra assessed key sections of the Earth-cum-Rock-Fill dam, including Gap-1, Gap-2, G-Hill and G-Dash Hill, along with senior engineers and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures officials. He directed Water Resources Department officials and MEIL engineers to maintain quality standards and ensure adequate stocks of earth, rock, sand and cement for uninterrupted round-the-clock works.

The review comes ahead of an international expert team’s visit later this month to assess dam safety and key project milestones. Engineers have been instructed to strictly follow approved designs and meet construction targets.
