Concept Hospitality Deal Marks Marriott's Bold India Move

Marriott International is set to make its first direct investment in India by acquiring a significant stake in Mumbai-based Concept Hospitality. This marks a strategic pivot for the American hotel giant as it looks to accelerate its growth in one of its fastest-growing markets.

The investment, estimated at around USD 15 million, is aimed at boosting Marriott’s presence in India to 250–300 hotels and 50,000 rooms within the next three to five years—up from its current 157 hotels and 30,000 rooms.

Founded in 1996, Concept Hospitality operates approximately 125 hotels across 90 locations in India, under six brands including The Fern, Zinc, and Beacon. The company, originally backed by the Kamat Group, is now majority-owned by CG Hospitality Global. CG Corp’s broader hospitality portfolio spans five countries and includes partnerships with brands like IHCL’s Taj, Jetwing Hotels, and Radisson.

The acquisition is expected to close within the next month.
