AMNS India Targets $25$ Million Tonne Steel Leap by 2030

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) has announced plans to expand its steelmaking capacity to 25–26 million tonnes by 2030, according to CEO Dilip Oommen.

The company, a 60:40 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Japan’s Nippon Steel, currently operates at around nine million tonnes per annum (MTPA). AMNS India aims to ramp up production at its Hazira plant near Surat, Gujarat, to 15 MTPA by next year, with further growth to 18 MTPA in subsequent years. In addition, the company is investing in a new greenfield facility at Rajayyapeta in Andhra Pradesh, projected to have a capacity of 8.2 MTPA.

“By 2030, we expect to reach at least 25–26 million tonnes, depending on progress at Hazira and Rajayyapeta,” said CEO Oommen. This expansion is set to strengthen AMNS India’s position as a key player in the Indian steel sector.
