Bharat Forge Wins ₹425 Cr Indian Navy Gas Turbine Contract

The Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹425 crore contract with Bharat Forge, Pune, for the supply of 12 sets of 1.25 MW marine gas turbine generators for the Indian Navy.

The order, placed under the Buy (Indian) category of the Defence Acquisition Procedure, requires a minimum of 60% indigenous content and was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. The project is scheduled to be executed over a five-year period.

As part of the contract, Bharat Forge will establish a dedicated integration and testing facility for the equipment and participate in future development programmes for advanced marine propulsion systems and higher-capacity gas turbines.

The initiative is aimed at boosting indigenous defence manufacturing, reducing import dependence, and strengthening India’s capabilities in naval propulsion, maintenance, and lifecycle support systems.
