Chhattisgarh on the Rise: New Industrial Policy Takes Shape

The Chhattisgarh government has approved key amendments to its Industrial Development Policy 2024–30, aimed at enhancing investment, job creation, and industrial growth across diverse sectors.

The changes, approved by the Cabinet under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, seek to make the policy more employment-focused, inclusive, and enterprise-friendly. Originally launched in February, the policy aligns with the state's long-term vision, “Amrit Kaal: Chhattisgarh Vision 2047”, and will be in force from November 1, 2024, to March 31, 2030. It also includes provisions for periodic reviews and flexible updates.

Key highlights of the amended policy include:

Support for modern agriculture, including hydroponics, aeroponics, and smart farming through IoT and automation.

Focus on emerging industries such as toys, textiles, tourism, and logistics.

Incentives for local employment: Businesses hiring state residents will be eligible for government grants.

Tourism boost: The minimum investment requirement for hotels and resorts in Bastar and Surguja has been lowered to increase tourism and local job opportunities.

Textile sector incentives: New investments can receive up to 200% in incentives, benefiting tailors, embroiderers, and knitters.

Logistics development: A dedicated logistics policy is in the works to transform Chhattisgarh into a logistics hub, improving freight efficiency and market connectivity.

These amendments aim to position Chhattisgarh as a competitive destination for industry while ensuring broad-based employment and economic development.
