Jindal Steel's Angul Plant: Now Coating the Future

Jindal Steel has commissioned its first Continuous Galvanising Line (CGL 1) at the Angul Integrated Steel Complex in Odisha, marking a significant milestone in expanding its coated steel product portfolio. The facility will produce galvanised and galvalume steel under the Jindal Panther Galvanised and ZINKALUME brands, catering to key sectors such as automotive, appliances, infrastructure, and construction.

CGL 1 is capable of processing steel thicknesses ranging from 0.15 mm to 1.50 mm and widths from 700 mm to 1,400 mm, delivering consistent quality and precision. The Jindal Panther Galvanised range includes full hard, soft, and skin-passed steel, commonly used in air conditioners, electrical panels, ducting, and silos, and also serves as base material for pre-painted galvanised iron (PPGI). ZINKALUME products—coated with aluminium, silicon, and zinc—offer enhanced corrosion resistance and thermal durability, making them ideal for solar structures, fuel tanks, and pre-painted galvalume (PPGL) applications.

The facility also produces thinner hot-rolled galvanised coils and high-strength steel tailored for automotive underbody components. This development aligns with Jindal Steel’s broader plan to expand crude steel production capacity at the Angul plant to 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by the end of 2025.
