Aerolloy Technologies, a subsidiary of PTC Industries, has completed the installation of a Plasma Arc Melting (PAM) furnace at its Strategic Manufacturing Technology Centre in Lucknow.
The furnace, with an annual capacity of 600 tonnes, will be used to produce titanium alloy ingots. The advanced melting technology employs a plasma torch to provide precise control over melting conditions, ensuring high metallurgical cleanliness and accurate alloy chemistry.
The PAM furnace will also enable Aerolloy to recycle metallic scrap, improving material yield and reducing dependence on fresh raw materials. In addition, it allows for the production of customised, small-batch titanium alloys for critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, and space.
The installation is expected to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness by enabling faster remelting and reuse of internally generated materials, marking a significant upgrade in the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
