Japan-based JFE Engineering Corporation has invested ₹43 crore to acquire a 25% stake in a special purpose vehicle promoted by Antony Waste Handling Cell for the development of two waste-to-energy projects in Andhra Pradesh.
The investment marks the first Japanese foreign direct investment in India’s waste-to-energy sector and represents JFE Engineering Corporation’s formal entry into the country’s waste management market.
Under the agreement, JFE Engineering will handle the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the two plants, which are planned to be set up in Kadapa and Kurnool.
