BDL Targets Growth with New Mega-Plants in Telangana and UP

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has unveiled plans to set up two new manufacturing facilities in Telangana and Uttar Pradesh to boost its production capacity in response to growing defence needs.

The upcoming units will be located at Ibrahimpatnam near Hyderabad and in Jhansi, which is part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor. Both facilities are expected to be inaugurated soon, with production likely to commence in FY 2026–27. This expansion is aimed at strengthening BDL’s ability to meet the rising requirements of the Indian armed forces by increasing output, improving efficiency, and broadening its product range.

The Ibrahimpatnam facility will house eight advanced assembly lines along with infrastructure for next-generation weapon systems and specialised testing capabilities, including rocket motor and warhead penetration tests. Meanwhile, the Jhansi unit will focus on producing propellants, large-scale manufacturing of Grad rockets, and conducting in-house research and development in advanced energetics.

Backed by a robust order book of around ₹26,000 crore, BDL’s expansion is set to enhance its technological capabilities and operational readiness, positioning the company to play a key role in India’s evolving defence manufacturing ecosystem.
