BMC Greenlights ₹12.15-Crore Project to Connect Worli Waterfront

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated plans to construct a key missing link in Worli, advancing efforts to create a continuous waterfront promenade along Mumbai’s Coastal Road.

The proposed project, estimated at ₹12.15 crore, involves the construction of a 320-metre-long and 8-metre-wide promenade-cum-access road connecting Lotus Jetty and Samudra Mahal near Baroda Palace. Once completed, the new section will bridge the only remaining gap in the 7.5-km seafront promenade developed as part of the larger Mumbai Coastal Road project, enabling uninterrupted movement along the entire waterfront corridor.

According to civic officials, the work is expected to be completed within six months, including the monsoon season. Forcon Infra has emerged as the sole bidder for the project. At present, pedestrians, cyclists, and joggers can access the promenade from Priyadarshini Park up to Lotus Jetty; however, a navigation bridge currently interrupts the route, requiring users to exit and re-enter the promenade near Baroda Palace. The proposed link is expected to significantly improve connectivity and enhance the overall user experience along Mumbai’s iconic coastal waterfront.
