Central Government Approves Six-Lane Expansion of Palasuni Bridge in Bhubaneswar

The Central government has granted in-principle approval to widen the existing bridge at Palasuni over the Gangua Nala into a six-lane structure to ease traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar.

With an estimated budget of Rs 50 crore (approximately USD six million), the project will expand the current 240-meter-long bridge by adding two extra lanes on each side, improving traffic flow. The approval follows discussions between Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, underscoring the Centre’s commitment to enhancing the city's infrastructure.

At present, the road has only one lane in each direction, resulting in frequent congestion. The expansion is expected to significantly improve commuter convenience and support Bhubaneswar’s urban development."
