Gujarat Sparks Semiconductor Surge with ₹190-Cr SAMARTH Hub

In a major boost to India's tech landscape, the Gujarat government has greenlit a ₹190-crore semiconductor research and training facility at IIT Gandhinagar. Named SAMARTH (Silicon and Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Research and Training Hub), the center is a joint initiative funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Gujarat Department of Science and Technology, and IIT Gandhinagar.

Over the next five years, SAMARTH aims to equip nearly 10,000 students, professionals, and technicians with industry-oriented, hands-on training. By bridging the gap between academia and practical fabrication, the hub will supply a steady pipeline of "fab-ready" engineers to fuel India's rapidly growing semiconductor manufacturing sector.
