Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has directed officials to complete the land acquisition process for the Hemavathi Express Link Canal project within one month, paving the way for the timely commencement of construction activities.
During a review meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, officials informed that approximately 80 acres of land are required for the project across a 27-km stretch, with preliminary acquisition procedures already underway. Stressing the importance of adhering to project timelines, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed concerned departments to expedite the acquisition process to avoid delays in implementation.
Parameshwara also set a target of March 2028 for the completion of the project and directed agencies including the Public Works Department (PWD), Minor Irrigation Department, and Zilla Panchayat to undertake regular field inspections to monitor progress and address bottlenecks. To strengthen oversight, a task force committee led by the Deputy Commissioner will track the project's implementation and submit monthly reports detailing completed and pending works.
In addition to the canal project, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the status of several ongoing development initiatives, including district hospital construction, lake rejuvenation programmes, road infrastructure projects, and civic improvement works. The review reflects the state government's continued focus on accelerating infrastructure development and enhancing public services to support regional growth and connectivity.
