KMRL Invites Bids for Kaloor Metro Commercial Development

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) has announced plans to lease a 45-cent plot near Kaloor metro station for commercial development. Currently used as a parking area, this prime parcel of land is poised to be transformed into a vibrant commercial hub, aligning with KMRL’s strategy to monetise its real estate assets and boost non-fare revenue.

A tender has been issued inviting proposals from investors and developers. The document outlines the potential for a range of commercial ventures, including shopping complexes, office spaces, restaurants, multiplexes, hospitals, food courts, family entertainment centres, and educational institutions. Developers are also encouraged to explore the possibility of a direct link to the adjacent metro station, enhancing commuter accessibility.

This initiative is part of KMRL’s broader effort to unlock the value of metro-owned land across Kochi. “We have already initiated the process of leasing multiple land parcels across the city,” said KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera. “The new policy is expected to support the company financially in executing various development projects.”
