The Dahisar River Rejuvenation Project in north Mumbai, valued at ₹246 crore, is nearing completion, with significant progress driven under the guidance of Piyush Goyal.
Launched as part of the Brihanmumbai StormWater Disposal Project, the initiative aims to clean the Dahisar River, intercept sewage, and improve overall water quality. A key component includes the construction of two advanced sewage treatment plants (STPs) using membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology at Indira Nagar and Sukurwadi. Both facilities are ready for commissioning and will treat water for non-potable uses such as gardening and road cleaning.
The project also involves the rejuvenation of a 4.75 km stretch of the river, construction of 4.4 km of sewer lines, and improvements to urban infrastructure, including service roads and drainage systems.
Its accelerated progress has been supported by a coordinated, multi-department review mechanism that has helped resolve implementation challenges and keep the project on track for timely completion.
