The ₹335-crore redevelopment of Sabarmati railway station in Ahmedabad is 85% complete and is expected to be ready by the end of December. The upgraded station is being developed as a multimodal transport hub to enable seamless connectivity between Sabarmati and AEC Metro stations and the high-speed rail station.
The redeveloped complex will feature seven broad-gauge platforms and three foot-overbridges at each station. It will also incorporate integrated CCTV surveillance, SCADA, building management systems and real-time passenger information facilities.
To promote sustainable infrastructure, the project includes a proposed 1,300 kW solar power plant, with the station targeting a Gold rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
