In a major boost to urban mobility, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and Maha Metro have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to redevelop the iconic Shivajinagar bus terminus into a modern multimodal ‘Bus Port’. The signing ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.
Encompassing nearly 15,400 sq. metres of land owned by MSRTC, the proposed development will serve as a unified transport node. It will directly link MSRTC long-distance operations with Maha Metro lines, PMPML city buses, and Pune central railway station, alongside dedicated zones for commercial enterprise and administrative government offices. Originally shifted to Wakdewadi in December 2019 to accommodate underground Metro construction, the facility is scheduled to open its doors by mid-2030.
